What Are The Solar Panel Rebates And Government incentives?

The Federal Government offers an incentive scheme called the small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme that helps reduce the cost of solar panels.  Although you may hear people calling it a “Solar Panel Rebates”, those are NOT technically Solar Panel Rebates as no money is refunded.

Without getting bogged down in the details of the Solar Panel Rebates, if you’re eligible and get your qualifying solar panel system from an accredited professional, such as  Future Services, Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) are generated.  You never actually see the “certificates” as they are traded (e.g. with big power consumers).

What you will see, however, is the all-important discounted/reduced price on your solar panel system as a result of the STCs.

The rate of incentive is subject to change depending on a variety of market factors.  There are also strict criteria that need to be met to qualify, and location has an impact.

When Does The Solar Panel Rebates Run Out?  Is Time Running Out To Get Solar Panel Incentives?

The incentive scheme is earmarked to end around 2031, so you do have time.
But, and there is a big BUT….

The mechanics of the scheme also mean the incentives can go up and down.
